程控交换机的软件非常庞大和复杂,小型程控交换机可有几十k至几百k的软件,大型程控交换机则可有几百k以至1000k以上的软件。在投入运行前,必须对所开发沟软件进行周密的和严格的测试。通常,软件的测试排错占有整个软件开发阶段的40%以上。因此,如何提高效率,用自动化的测试设施和方法进行高效率和高质量的测试,是在开发软件的同时必需解决的问题。这些测试设施是程控交换支援系统的重要组成部分。按照软件的结构和容量,软件测试可划分为几个阶段,对应于较小范围到全范围的测试。
