美国农业部农业研究局热带水产养殖研究室开发成功了一种成本低廉的虾类饵料.这种饵料为小颗粒状,由蔗渣和廉价的蛋白质、脂肪及矿物质源制成,最宜于半精养养虾.用墨西哥对虾(Penaeus vannamei)进行了12周的试验显示,幼虾饲喂这种蔗渣颗粒饵料生长很好.这种颗粒饵料沉到塘底,可由塘中新增殖的小型生物的表面吸附或吃入.虾不仅吃腐烂的蔗渣颗粒纤维,也吃细菌、藻类和以这种颗粒饵料及其增生物为食
