中国美术创作院于2004年8月30日在北京正式成立,成立大会及挂牌仪式在中国艺术研究院举行。文化部人事司司长吕章申、文化部艺术教育科技司司长韩永进、中国艺术研究院院长王文章、中国美协党组书记兼常务副主席刘大为、中国画研究院院长龙瑞、中国美术馆馆长冯远、中国美协《美术》杂志主编王仲等美术界代表百余人参加了成立仪式,中国美术创作院副院长满维起主持仪式。
China Academy of Art and Design was formally established in Beijing on August 30, 2004. The founding and listing ceremony was held at the China Academy of Art. Director of Human Resources Department of Ministry of Culture Lv Zhangshen, Director of Art Education Science and Technology Department of Ministry of Culture Han Yongjin, Director of Chinese Art Research Institute Wang Wenzhang, Secretary of Chinese Artists Association and Executive Vice Chairman Liu Dawei, Dean of Chinese Painting Research Institute Long Rui, China Art Museum Chang Fengyuan, Wang Zhong, chief editor of Fine Arts magazine of the Chinese American Artists Association, attended the founding ceremony. Over 100 representatives of the fine arts world attended the ceremony.
