Shortly after the formation of the air force, the Party Central Committee decided to train the first batch of female flight personnel in new China. In accordance with instructions from the Central Military Commission, the Air Force proceeded to elect 55 female trainees from East China Military and Political University and the Aviation Preparatory Corps in early 1951 to study at Seventh Aviation School.
