Objective: To investigate whether gastroesophageal reflux is associated with congenital intestinal innervation. Methods: Eighteen patients with esophageal atresia and 10 normal children underwent surface electrogastrography. Results: In the esophageal atresia group, the frequency of stomach decreased in 2 cases and the frequency of stomach increased in 2 cases, but the main frequency was 0.047 ± 0.007Hz, which was not significantly different from that in the control group (0.050 ± 0.007Hz). The frequency distribution of EGG in esophageal atresia group Than the control group was significantly wider (P = 0.002). Conclusions: The widening frequency of EGG in children with esophageal atresia indicates that the electrical activity of the stomach is disturbed, which may be related to the uncoordinated gastric electrical activity, which leads to abnormal gastric contraction.
