The authors used fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to assess the reliability of diagnostic chromosomal aneuploidy by in situ hybridization of commercially available centromere DNA probes and uncultured amniotic fluid cells. One hundred and sixty-six pregnant women with gestational age from 3 to 30 weeks and ultrasound to diagnose fetal abnormalities were selected. Fifteen to twenty ml of amniotic fluid were selected.
