The Journal of Urology reported in November on “The Increased Risk of Fracture Can Lead to Prostate Cancer in Patients Undergoing Long-term Administration with Androgen Inhibitors” by Dr. Michael G. Oefelein and colleagues at the University Hospital of Cleveland, 181 prostate cancer patients treated with androgen inhibitor were observed continuously for 42 to 51 months. Nine out of 181 men were found to have fractures. In healthy men over the age of 70, the incidence of fractures was 1%, while the odds ratio for people with androgen depressants was 4.97.
