喻国明教授曾撰文讲:所谓“厚报”其实是一个相对概念。它不是关于报纸篇幅唯一决定的数量称谓,而是相对于人们有限的阅读时间可以阅读的报纸篇幅数的一个概念。报纸所提供的内容篇幅超过了人们在有限阅读时间内可以有效阅读的篇幅数,就被人们称之为“厚报”,反之,则为“薄报”
Professor Yu Guoming has written that the so-called “thick newspaper” is actually a relative concept. It is not a quantitative appellation of the sole determinant of the length of a newspaper, but rather a concept of the size of a newspaper that can be read relative to the limited reading time of one’s own. The length of the content provided by the newspaper exceeds the length that people can effectively read during the limited reading time, which is what people call “thick newspaper,” and the other is “thin paper”
