经中国公路车辆机械总公司批准,并根据公车机(1996)字第125号文件精神,交通部中通车辆集团技术开发中心正式在交通部重庆公路科学研究所成立并开始运作。该中心在行政上由中国公路车辆机械总公司和交通部重庆公路科学研究所双重领导,并充分利用交通部重庆公路科学研究所汽车专业的现有科技人员、先进的科研试验检测设备及技术信息优势,从事各项科技开发项目。 该中心的宗旨是以先进的科技成果促进交通部中通车辆机械集团的技术进步,为集团成员企业提供科技服务,增强集团成员企业在市场上的竞争能力。其业务范围是根据市场及集团成员企业的需要,从事客车专用底盘、车身及专用车辆的新技术研究与开发;车辆基础零部件及附件的新技术研究与开发;企业技术改革项目可行性论证与评估;重大引进项目的设备和技术论证、鉴定、评价、技术谈判、考察及信息检索;技术转让、技术咨询和技术服务等。 长期以来,技术开发中心所属的交通部重庆公路科学研究所一直从事客车技术的研究和开发工作,是我国最早从事客车设计研究的单位。先后承担了国家“六五”、“七五”重点科技攻关客车项目和多项交通部重点客车科技攻关项目及横向客车技术开发项目和企业技术改造可行性论证项目等。如研究开发了JT663、JT1118H、JT6120?
