照我看来,历史悠久的中国盆景艺术,现在进入了一个前所未有的好时期。它在大踏步发展:主题思想愈来愈高,题材范围愈来愈广,表现手法愈来愈多。但如何使我们的盆景艺术创一代风流,广泛而充分地体现社会主义时代的时代精神,使我们今天的盆景艺术明显地区别于旧中国的盆景艺术,也明显地区别于其他国家的盆景艺术,这应该是创作者、研究者、组织者、欣赏者共同思考的课题。盆景艺术的创新,首先一环是这个努力目标在我们思想上要十分明确。只要这一思想明确了,必然会引起艺术上的一系列变化。
In my opinion, the long history of Chinese bonsai art has now entered an era of unprecedented good. It is making great strides: the theme idea is getting higher and higher, the subject matter is getting wider and wider, and the ways of expression are more and more. However, how to make our bonsai art create a unique style and broadly and fully embody the spirit of the times in the socialist era, so that today’s bonsai art clearly distinguishes itself from the art of bonsai from the old China and from the bonsai art of other countries, This should be the creators, researchers, organizers, appreciators think together. The first part of the innovation of bonsai art is that this goal of our efforts must be very clear in our thinking. As long as this idea is clear, it is bound to cause a series of artistic changes.
