仅管词义扩大与缩小常为学者相提并举,但事实上前者多见而后者却相当少见。造成这种不平衡的原因在于词义缩小倾向于改变语音形式,在于由此引发的由一般到个别的派生构词。
Although the expansion and contraction of lexical meaning are often mentioned by scholars, the former are the most common and the latter are rare. The reason for this imbalance is that the reduction in meaning tends to change the phonetic form of the resulting general to individual derivative word.
