INTRODUCTION Some authors have suggested the role of integrated bittern brine as a deposit in the formation of lead-zinc ore deposits that are hosted by sedimentary rocks. A similar view was also expressed for the formation of the Mississippi valley lead-zinc deposits. Recently, Cathle and Smith attempted to analyze this issue using the large amount of space, time and temperature data from the Central American continental basin and its Mississippi Valley deposits. They can argue that thermal control conditions require high velocities (10 to 3 steady-state rates) during brine-out events, and conclude that such events must actually have a high degree of phase. They set
