OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the wear behavior of several commonly used dental prosthetic materials under different surface roughness by using the method of normalizing the enamel specimen and the metal material specimen. Methods: Four kinds of alloy materials, such as Ni-based casting alloy, Ni-based alloy, Co-Cr-Mo alloy and Ti alloy, were used as wear-resistant materials and enamel as wear samples. Wear tests were carried out to quantitatively measure wear of enamel samples. SAS14 .0 Software package for statistical analysis of data. Results: There was no significant difference in the average wear amount of enamel between the 180-mesh and 400-mesh nickel-based cast alloys compared with the 400-mesh and 1200-mesh groups. There was a significant difference between the average wear amount of the enamel specimens and the wear resistance of the cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy with 3 different roughness types, the nickel-chromium alloy and the titanium alloy with different treatments. Conclusion: The surface roughness of nickel-chromium alloy, cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy and titanium alloy have an impact on the wear of enamel. The coarse-grained metal can significantly increase the wear of enamel.
