苏联有很大一部分領土——从与罗馬尼亞共和國接界的边境到太平洋岸的南部地区都位於比較强烈的構造运动地带。在这部分領土上,有很多大的工業中心和文化中心;有数千个村庄、工業企業、桥梁和水工建筑物等等。因此,对我們來講,抗震工程問題具有非常重大的國民經济意义。我們知道,有些地区,由於对針对地震的保护措施沒有給予应有的注意,曾遭受極其嚴重的地震破坏后果。
The Soviet Union has a large part of the territory - from the border bordering the Republic of Romania to the southern part of the Pacific Ocean on the more intense tectonic movement. In this part of the territory, there are many large industrial centers and cultural centers; there are thousands of villages, industrial enterprises, bridges and hydraulic structures and so on. Therefore, for us, the seismic engineering has a very significant national economic significance. We know that in some areas, due to the failure to give due attention to the protection measures against earthquakes, we have suffered the most devastating earthquake damage.
