由于其前期的理论没有能够成功地引导广大发展中国家从贫穷走向富裕,发展经济学自20世纪70年代末起,便受到严厉的批评,学科本身则面临生存危机。20世纪80年代以后,随着新制度经济学向发展经济学的渗透,为发展经济学提供了全新的视角。在短短的十几年内,新制度经济学的分析方法已经引起了发展经济学者们的高度重视,制度内生的经济发展理论已成为发展经济学的一种流行的观点。
Since its earlier theory failed to guide the majority of developing countries successfully from poverty to affluence, development economics has been severely criticized since the late 1970s, and the discipline itself has faced a crisis of existence. Since the 1980s, with the infiltration of new institutional economics into development economics, a new perspective has been provided for the development of economics. In a dozen or so years, the analytical methods of the new institutional economics have drawn the attention of the development economists. The endogenous economic development theory of the system has become a popular view in the development economics.
