The primary factor in the safety reliance on blood and its products is the recruitment of unpaid blood donors from low-risk populations, starting with the correct screening of blood donors. The World Health Organization (WHO) urges all governments and health authorities to establish systems to screen blood donors and correctly select all kinds of people who can donate blood, which should be postponed and not donated to ensure safety
