A qualitative study of universities in Catalonia (Spain) shows that today’s university researchers read more and have more content than ever before. The use of electronic journals saves researchers the number of physical browsing to the library, and web browsing and email reminders (TOCs) are also replacing the physical browsing to a certain extent. In order to track the latest research trends, web search has become the most commonly used technical means of researchers, Google Scholar has become an important channel for access to academic information. At the same time, researchers’ reading tends to be superficial, and there are still many problems in the personalized management of academic information.
