无论是思想内涵,抑或艺术表现形式,作于1943年10月的《金锁记》被公认是张爱玲中篇小说之精髓。1944年出版的《传奇》小说集中,作者选《金锁记》作为开篇,足见张爱玲本人对这部中篇小说的偏爱。为此,人们较易忽略于集中位居第二的《倾城之恋》。譬如,奠定张爱玲文学批评基石的两篇权威评论——迅雨(傅雷)的《论张爱玲的小说》、夏志清的“张爱玲”(《中国现代小说史·第15章》,耶鲁大学出版社,1961年),对于《倾城之恋》的论评,不论是力度,还是文字的长度,都远不及《金锁记》。然而,不可忽视的事实是:继《倾城之恋》成名之后,张爱玲于1944年又将它
Whether it is the connotation of ideas, or the artistic expression, the “Golden Lock” made in October 1943 is regarded as the essence of Zhang Ailing’s novella. In the collection of “Legend” novels published in 1944, the author selects “Golden Lock” as the opening passage, which shows Zhang Ailing’s preference for this novella. For this reason, people tend to overlook the “Allure Love” which is the second most concentrated. For example, two authoritative comments that laid the cornerstone of Zhang Ailing’s literary criticism-Xun Yu’s novels on Zhang Ailing, Xia-Qing Zhang’s Ailing (China History of Modern Fiction, Chapter 15, Yale University Press, 1961), the comments on Love in the Fallen City are far less powerful than the Golden Lock in terms of intensity and length of writing. However, the fact that can not be ignored is that following the fame of “Allure Love”, Eileen Chang brought it back in 1944
