1949年10月,中国人民解放军广州市军事管制委员会公安组接管原民国广州市警察局消防署,在文明路47号(即民国初年广州市首次设立的消防署旧址)成立“广州市公安局消防大队”。随着广州城不断发展变化,文明路47号消防队已经不适应时代需要,今日的文明路47号,29米高的旧广州消防署大楼,已被列入文物保护单位,成为一部民国活历史,诉说着一段段为了“让广东人民有安全感”的城市消防史。
