Translation process concerns five factors: the author, the source text, the source-text readers, the translator, the target text and the target-text readers. The translator lies in central position which has a affiliation with the author, the source text, the source-text readers, the target text and the target-text readers. This paper applies the translation of Mao Zedong Poems and Ci as the corpus to analyze the translator's roles as a writer and a cultural mediator in Gu's and Zhao's version. As a reader, two translators are both Chinese and have some alike understanding of certain words in the comprehending and analysis process. In regard to the translator's acting as a writer, the paper analyzes the distinctions of two versions from three aspects: their different translations in terms of the sound, form and meaning. In regard to the translator acting as a cultural mediator, the translators mediates the cultural factors on the cultural imagery, allusion and the tune.
