关于“六经皆史”说,有不少文章论及,其中牵涉到两个问题。第一,此说是何人首先提出的?有的说是章学诚,有的说是王阳明,也有的说是老子。第二,提出“六经皆史”说究竟有无意义?有人认为这是一种反封建的思想。范文澜早在四十年代就对此作过评价。他指出,章学诚的“六经皆史”说,“把经从神圣的地位上拉下来与史平列,这是有意义的”。侯外庐说此论“大胆地把中国封建社会所崇拜的六经教条,从神圣的宝座拉下来,依据历史观点,作为古代的典章制度的源流演进来处
