当代西方文化思想正以前所未有的速度发生着变化,对于国人来说,这种变化往往来得突兀。在名目众多的哲学派别中,贯穿其中的实质性问题是“现代”和“后现代”。“现代”是指18世纪以来的启蒙思想,为西方文化传统的主流,而“后现代”则是对现代的反省和反抗,在某种意义上也是对西方传统主流思想的反叛。二者的对抗是理解处于世纪之交思想的一根主线。另外,近20年来西方文化中另一主流就是关于正义问题的讨论及政治
Contemporary Western cultural ideas are changing at an unprecedented rate, which is often unexpected to the Chinese. Among the numerous philosophical schools of thought, the substantive issues running through it are “modern ” and “postmodern ”. “Modern ” refers to the Enlightenment thought since the 18th century as the mainstream of Western cultural traditions, whereas “Postmodern ” is a reflection on and opposition to the present, and in some sense, a rebellion against the mainstream Western ideology .
