邵宇,1919年8月生于辽宁省丹东市东沟县大孤山。1935年入北京美术专科学校专攻西洋画。1936年参加革命。建国前即开始从事报纸工作。1950年参加筹备组建人民美术出版社的工作。1951年任《人民画报》总编辑。1952年调任《人民日报》美术组组长,赴朝鲜担任抗美援朝战地记者;同年任人民美术出版社副社长兼总编辑。1977年任人民美术出版社社长兼总编辑。邵宇还曾担任中国书法家协会主席兼中国文联书协分党组书记,中国美术家协会常务理事、书记,文化部艺术委员会委员,中
