Contrary to what has been inherited from evolutionary development, the survivors of imperial capitalism have become neither holistic nor ours at all, whether they are political leftists or rightists. Contrary to the “theory of disappointment” in the mid-twentieth century (that is, logically and historically a precursor to dependency theory), the indigenous people who survived were intended to be culturally responsible for what had happened to them responsibility. Across most of northern North America, even hunters and collectors survived by hunting and gathering. Eskimos are still there, and they are still Eskimos. People around the world are embracing the lie of accepting traditions and changes in theory, indigenous culture and modernity, the confrontation between urban and tribal people, and other stereotypes of anthropological wisdom that have existed. The story of the disappearance of indigenous cultures is as exaggerated as the end of anthropology.
