Power semiconductor specialist Internation Rectifer (IR) has introduced three innovative, multi-phase, high-current DC-DC converter reference designs. The three new designs use the advanced iP2001 device as a structural module for a 5V to 12V input, 1V to 2V output synchronous buck converter circuit. The new design can reflect the high efficiency in a small area. Taking the IRDCiP2001-C four-phase converter reference design as an example, the device can deliver up to 88.5% operational efficiency at 80A full load, 1.6V OUT and 500KHz airflow-free environments. Efficiency is 10% better than discrete solutions. IR’s innovative iPOWIR technology provides a flexible platform for the iP2001 device, simplifying the design of power conversion circuitry.
