A newspaper reported on March 12 a headline: “The Communists won in the election of the Legislative Council of Kerala,” the subtitle of which is “voters hate Congress party for abandoning the Dangerian Renegade Group.” This subtitle is easily misunderstood as: “What voters hate” is that “the Congress Party’s government spurned the Dangerous Renegade Group.” This is a principle mistake. Yet another newspaper clearly states: “Voters hated the Congress Party government and spurned the traitor Dangeji Group,” adding only a comma to make the reader crystal clear and unequivocal.
