In 2014, with the complicated test of internal and external factors, cross-Strait economic exchange and cooperation continued to make new progress. According to the data released by the Ministry of Commerce, the cross-Strait trade volume reached 198.13 billion U.S. dollars, up 0.6% over the same period of last year. Among them, the mainland imported 152.02 billion U.S. dollars from Taiwan and 46.28 billion U.S. dollars to Taiwan. During the year, 2,318 Taiwanese investment projects were approved by the mainland, an increase of 14.9% over the same period of last year, while the actually used Taiwan funds reached 2,020 million U.S. dollars. By the end of 2014, 92,346 Taiwanese investment projects had been approved by the mainland, with the actual use of Taiwan’s funds being 61.05 billion U.S. dollars. Approved by the competent departments of the mainland to invest in Taiwan throughout the year,
