上海国际工业博览会(以下简称上海工博会)从1999年举办至今,历时六届。2001年,经国务院批准,上海工博会确定了发展目标:在党中央、国务院领导下,提升上海工博会办会规格和水平,把上海工博会办成类似“汉诺威工博会”的国家级大型国际工业博览会,使之成为中国科技界、产业界与世界科技界、产业界交流的窗口,争取把上海工博会办成在亚太乃至在全世界具有相当权威的以及国际化、市场化、规范化的大型博览会。
