This article provides an overview of shovels and draglines used in British Columbia, Alberta and Yukon in Western Canada! And describes a selection of shovels for wire rope selection. The factors such as the structure of the wire rope, the direction of twisting and the type of steel core are discussed. After selecting the suitable steel wire rope, various factors that affect the service life of the steel wire rope and the factors of reducing the downtime when replacing the steel wire rope should also be considered. In addition, a description is given of the double-cord reel, the type of Beket boot, the shovel reel and the ferrule.
