Barr and Stroud, the UK company recently announced that the company mass-produced high purity zinc sulfide infrared optical components. The company’s zinc sulfide polycrystalline material is mainly used in the infrared band. These materials are grown by a chemical vapor deposition method, which is easy to form various shapes such as a curved plane, and thus various optical elements can be manufactured. The material in the 8-12 micron band transmission is good, low cost, suitable for aircraft and heat-seeking weapons cover the infrared window. The largest plate size is 800 × 450 mm.
