2月19日,中共中央、国务院在京隆重召开国家科学技术奖励大会。江泽民总书记出席大会并为获奖代表颁奖,朱镕基总理代表党中央、国务院在大会上讲话,李岚清副总理宣读了《国务院关于2000年度国家科学技术奖励的决定》。大会由国家副主席胡锦涛主持。会上,江泽民向获得2000年度国家最高科学技术奖的中国科学院系统科学研究所研究员吴文俊院士和湖南杂交水稻研究中心研究员袁隆平院
On February 19, the CPC Central Committee and State Council held a grand ceremony of national science and technology awards in Beijing. General Secretary Jiang Zemin attended the meeting and presented awards to the winners. Premier Zhu Rongji addressed the meeting on behalf of the Central Party Committee and the State Council. Vice Premier Li Lanqing read out the “Decision of the State Council on the 2000 National Awards for Science and Technology.” The meeting was presided over by Vice President Hu Jintao.
