Nitrogen ion implantation can improve the wear resistance of artificial joint material Ti-6Al-4V. Since 1985, some titanium artificial total hip, hollow and Bateman femoral heads have been injected for clinical replacement. This paper reports some applications of ion beam bombardment in biomaterials that cause microroughness.
