From December 15 to December 15, 1995, heads of state and government of the 15 EU member states gathered in Madrid, the capital of Spain, and held a world-renowned EU summit. The summit focused on topics discussed: economic and monetary union, employment issues, preparations for intergovernmental meetings, the EU’s “eastward expansion” and “going south” strategies. After two days of heated debates, the conference finally reached a consensus on the major issues mentioned above and issued a resolution on the meeting.
