This paper reports the determination of total protein and N-acetyl-β-glucosaminoglycans in random urine samples from patients with subclinical diabetes mellitus and its clinical significance. Participants were 30 diabetic patients (negative group) and 30 patients (more than one intermittent positive group) with negative urine protein 5 times in the past 6 months to 1 year by the test strip method, and had no kidney disease, Diabetes, hypertension and other history of random urine test to check the sugar, protein, occult blood test negative 134 normal subjects. Urine total protein, creatinine, and N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) activity were measured in all subjects. Total urinary total protein was determined by modified microtitration method. The results were expressed as protein / creatinine and NAG / creatinine as protein index and NAG index, respectively.
