我国天然草地面积近4亿公顷,是我国面积最大的绿色生态屏障和最为重要的陆地生态系统。近年来,为有效保护和改善草原生态环境,国家实施了多个草原保护建设工程。优良草品种是保证草原建设效果的重要物质基础;并且,依靠优良草品种,改良天然草地,建植人工草地,发展“粮食作物—经济作物—饲草料作物”三元种植结构,可以拓宽食物生产系统的范围,延长农业产业链,藏粮于地,藏粮于草,增加奶肉蛋供应,减少化肥施用对环境的污染,维护国家的食物安全。
