在玉器这一独特领域能够真正形成系列,具备相当规模和档次的藏品,且在学术领域具有一定建树的博物馆却为数不多。位于加拿大多伦多市的皇家安大略博物馆(Royal Ontario Museum,简称ROM)便是其中之一。对于人类文明的传承和交流来说,实物遗产是最直观、有效的载体。有序、合理地收集、保管、研究、展示这些弥足珍贵的人类共同遗产,通过实物探索历史、文化和艺术,教育后人,提高公众的审美,正是博物馆所肩负的重要使命。遍布全球各地的博物馆所展出的藏品门类五花八门,争奇斗艳。其中,玉器可称得上是最具中国特色的类别之一。跨越八千年之久的历史,遍布中华大地的南北东西,玉文化所承载的历史信息和文化内涵足以令世人为之赞叹和敬仰。
There are only a few museums that can really form a series of collections of considerable size and grade in the unique area of jade, and have made some achievements in the academic field. One of these is the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto, Canada. For the heritage and exchange of human civilization, the physical heritage is the most intuitive and effective carrier. It is the important mission of the museum to collect, keep, study and display these precious human common heritage in an orderly and rational manner. It is the mission of the museum to explore the history, culture and art, educate future generations and improve the public’s aesthetic through physical exploration. Museums around the world exhibit a wide variety of collections, contests. Among them, jade can be described as one of the most Chinese-specific categories. Spanning more than 8,000 years of history, the historical information and cultural connotations carried by jade culture are enough to make the world admire and adore.
