Recently, Pawlotsky et al. Reported that the distribution of HCV genotypes in 101 patients with chronic hepatitis C (HC) has an important correlation with the source of infection in France. Interestingly, HCV-1b is predominantly found in older patients after transfusions or in the unidentified route of infection, whereas HCV-3a is predominantly found in young adults.
