As of September 30, 2013, Dow AgroSciences third-quarter sales of 1.14 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.3% over the previous year. From January to September this year, sales increased 11.4% YoY to $ 5.363 billion. Sales volume increased 5% YoY while sales price increased 3% YoY. The increase in sales is mainly driven by sales in Latin America. Driven by sales of herbicides in South America and Latin America and sales of pesticides in Latin America, sales of plant protection business increased by 10% in the third quarter. The sales of the herbicide, sulfasalazine, increased, resulting in a 12% increase in sales of new plant protection products from January to September. Sales of seeds, traits and oil business (ST & O) dropped 4% from a year earlier. Sales of ST & O increased from January to September this year as a result of strong demand from farmers for the hybrid SmartStaxR corn and sales growth in other major crops
