我国是一个统一的多民族国家,拥有55个少数民族,约占我国总人口数的6.7％。由于历史的原因,基本分布于边疆、高原、草原、山区等自然资源落后的边远地区。然而时代的发展也将各少数民族与地区,卷入滚滚的社会发展大潮中,新的思想、新的观念伴随着传播媒介的发展,辐射到每个角落,少数民族学校作为新思想、新文化、新观念的传播基地,民族教师有着义不容辞的责任。然而就目前调查资料看,民族体育师资正面临着师资数量严重匮乏和师资水平相对较低的棘手问题。
