青州城历史悠久,自两汉时期至明朝初年,一直都是山东地区的政治、经济、军事、文化中心,至今已有二千余年的建城史,历史上先后建有广固城、广县城、东阳城、南阳城、东关、旗城六座古城。近年来,青州市修复和重建了魁星楼、阜财门、海晏门、偶园、衡王府等建筑,通过古城恢复重建,充分向世人展示了青州城珍贵的历史文化资源。古城情结,一如《雨巷》的浪漫踏上一条青石板铺就的老街,两边是保存完好的古建筑,这些建筑多是青砖青瓦、木质的红窗红门,有的门框上边是回民标志的图案,可见这里聚居的
