After a series of 27 years of publication, 27 academic journals, compiled by scholars themselves, have finally gained the recognition of the national publishing department and become formal academic journals. Among my limited knowledge, which is rare in contemporary Chinese academia, this publication is “International Sinology.” Today, when International Sinology is the first issue of a national official academic journal, as editor-in-chief, I deeply miss the history of International Sinology as a difficult period for developing non-governmental academic journals.
