山西霍县地区为新生界地层出露较好的地区之一,对本区第四纪地层的划分及汾河发育历史问题,前人曾提出不同见解。笔者根据野外调查所得资料,对上述问题提出新的认识:本区汾河发育于新第三纪上新世末或第四时纪早更新界初,当时的汾河河道在现代汾河之东,沿赤峪断裂带内之小型地堑发育;因小型地堑的相对沉降,古河道内保存了下更新世及中更新世的地层,以前河底村大老沟面最为典型。现代汾河河谷是中更新世末因改道而形成的新河谷,河谷中分布有晚更新世以来的地层。
The Huoxian area in Shanxi Province is one of the better exposed areas in the Cenozoic strata. Before the classification of Quaternary strata in this area and the development history of Fenhe River, different opinions were put forward. Based on the field survey data, the author put forward a new understanding of the above issues: the Fenhe River in this area developed in the Neogene or the fourth quarter of the Early Pleistocene, when the Fenhe River in the modern east of the Fenhe River , Developed along the small graben within the Chiyu fault zone. Due to the relative settlement of the small graben, the strata of the Lower Pleistocene and Middle Pleistocene were preserved in the ancient channel, which was the most typical in the past. The modern Fenhe River Valley is a new river valley formed by the diversion of the Middle Pleistocene. There are strata distributed in the valley since the Late Pleistocene.
