由香港中文大学语言学及现代语言系主办的“第五届演化语言学国际研讨会”(The 5~(th)International Conference in Evolutionary Linguistics,CIEL-5)于2013年8月17日至19日在香港中文大学祖尧堂及太古堂举行。系主任叶彩燕教授在开幕式上致欢迎词,并宣布“香港中文大学-北京大学-台湾联合大学系统语言与人类复杂系统联合研究中心”成立。台湾联合大学系统校长曾志朗教授等也在开幕式上发言。本次研讨会的议题是:(1)语言作为一个复杂适应性系统;(2)语言与人类演化;(3)语言的历时与共时研究;(4)语言与大脑;(5)其他与语言相关的研究。6位学者作了主题报告,他们是(按演讲顺序):王士元香港中文大学,Michael Arbib南加州大学,Kenneth R.Pugh哈斯金实验室,谭力海香港大学,Alain Peyraube(贝罗贝)法国国家科学研究院,沈家煊中国社会科学院。会议还作了42个口头报告,展示了17个书面报告。与会学者对有关问题进行了热烈讨论。
The Fifth International Symposium on Evolutionary Linguistics, CIEL-5, hosted by the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, held on August 17, 2013 to On the 19th, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Cho Yiu Tong and Tai Koo Tong were held. Professor Ye Caiyan, director of the department, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony and announced the establishment of the “Joint Research Center for Systems Language and Human Complex Systems of the Chinese University of Hong Kong - Peking University - Taiwan United University”. Professor Zeng Zhilang, president of Taiwan’s United University System, also spoke at the opening ceremony. The topics of this symposium are: (1) language as a complex adaptive system; (2) language and human evolution; (3) diachronic and synchronic studies of language; (4) languages and brains; related research. Six scholar gave keynote speeches in the order of their speeches: Wang Shiyuan The Chinese University of Hong Kong Michael Arbib University of Southern California Kenneth R. Pugh Haskin Laboratory Tan Lihai The University of Hong Kong Alain Peyraube France National Academy of Sciences, Shen Jia 煊 Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The meeting also made 42 oral reports, displaying 17 written reports. Participants and scholars held a heated discussion on the issues.
