据说百余年前,辽宁东部山区严州府牌楼村有一位白发长须的老人,村里无论男女老少,都叫他白爷爷。有人说白爷爷是武林高手,可是谁也没见过他耍弄拳脚。 牌楼村东南面有一条溪,最宽处40多米,窄的地方也不短于10米,一泓流水终年不断。溪边半泥半沙的土地最适宜栽种西瓜。白爷爷自到牌楼村落户以后,一直住在溪边一间低矮的小茅屋里,除了种西瓜之外,有时还打鱼摸虾以维持生计。虽是孤身一人,日子倒也过得安稳。
