According to the definition of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a newspaper is a continuous publication and should include news coverage of events that present special or general interest. Each newspaper should set out the time or numerical order, and be published at least once a week. Newspapers generally do not have a cover, but to have a header, the size is usually greater than 29.7 × 42 cm. The newspapers covered in this article are complemented by this definition: these newspapers are not only distributed in the United States, but they also have an editorial board in the United States and cover local news in the United States. All the satellite newspapers do not belong to this list. In the United States, the history of newspapers can be traced back to the founding of the nation.
