鸢尾属(Iris)植物在全世界有300余种,在北温带广为分布。而在园林中栽培观赏的,只是其中很少的一部分。近100年来鸢尾品种以惊人的速度发展起来,现在全世界已达20,000多个,并且还在以每年700多个品种的速度递增。这些新品种的观赏性越来越强,色彩也日益丰富。
Iris plants are found in over 300 species worldwide and are widely distributed in the northern temperate zone. In the garden cultivation ornamental, only a small part of them. Iris varieties have been developed at an alarming rate for nearly 100 years and nowadays there are over 20,000 in the world and are still growing at more than 700 varieties per year.
