The trifoil peptides family is currently classified as the trifoil factor family (TFF) and consists mainly of the breast cancer-associated peptide (PS2), antispasmodic peptide (SP) and intestinal trefoil factor (ITF) It is characterized by six cysteine residues linked by three disulfide bonds, showing a trilobe structure. Trefoil peptide in the human body has a wide distribution and expression, such as the respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system and the central nervous system of the hypothalamus. This article describes its biological characteristics, its distribution and function in the digestive system, and the malignant biological characteristics of gastrointestinal tumors.
