Rare to see such a dull movie, rarely see such a shocking movie. The film, “White Ribbon”, directed by Austrian director Harneck, won awards such as the Palme d’Or at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. The film takes the memories of a village teacher as a narrative perspective on a series of bizarre events in a village in northern Germany on the eve of World War I. The doctor stumbles on the ropes as he rides home and a tenant’s wife dies as a result of the accident. The protagonists of all these vicious incidents have yet to be investigated and the arson in the villages and the beating of children are still ongoing.
