1984年,我应美国哈佛大学教授赵如兰女士之邀,在华盛顿参加东方说唱艺术研究会年会的时候,见到了几位台湾的学者和学生。他们对我在会上演唱的多种鼓曲和曲剧选段,感到极大兴趣,非常希望我能到台湾讲学、演出。但当时海峡两岸还没有开放,对此我根本不敢想。近些年有些松动,也只有探亲的人前去比较顺利。戏曲界还没有一位是应邀前去专门作艺术交流的。去年上半年,台湾的王友兰小姐主动提出邀我赴台。想不到这件事最终真的能够实现,我成为大陆演员到台湾作艺术交流的第一人。我终于进入台湾王友兰祖籍河南,生在台湾,从小就喜欢京剧和鼓曲。大学毕业后,她便专攻鼓曲。一方面在大学任教,一方面办起了一个“大汉玉集剧艺团”。还经常在电台播讲鼓曲知识。为了深造,3年前她来大陆,经人介绍拜京韵大鼓名家骆玉笙(小綵舞)大姐为师。后来又到北京向我求教。去年,她得知我很愿意去台湾作艺术交流,便开始作这方面的努力。我有北京市政协常委的身份,给办理手续增添了
In 1984, at the invitation of Professor Zhao Rulan, a professor at Harvard University in the United States, I met several Taiwanese scholars and students while attending the annual conference of the Oriental Rap Art Research Association in Washington. They are greatly interested in the various types of drumsticks and opera performances I have sung at the meeting. I very much hope that I can give lectures and performances in Taiwan.
