建国40年来,我国的果树、蔬菜、观尝园艺事业在科研、教学与生产战线上都取得了巨大的发展。以果树为例,从1949年到1988年总产量增长了13.8倍。其中以苹果的增长幅度最大,从1949年的10万吨到1988年的400多万吨,增长40多倍。蔬菜生产总面积已接近8000万亩,商品菜生产基地的建设也逐年得到加强。观赏园艺在建国前一直未被重视,园林建设微不足道,科研成果更少。40年来,我们已对很多传统名花从栽培历史、品种分类、引种驯化、远缘杂交、栽培及繁殖技术等进行了系统研究,同时对园林树种进行了调查,对园林的环境效益研究也取得了很大成就。 在回顾建国40年来我国园艺事业所取得的辉煌成就时,回顾和总结本刊在发展我国园艺学科上所作的努力,以求不断提高刊物质量是不无益处的。 《园艺学报》是我国园艺学科唯一的全国性学术刊物。自1962年创刊以来,在各级领导的关怀指导、全体编委和编辑同志的努力和广大作者、读者的支持下,本刊发行量一直保持在万份以上,近年来,由于价格上调,以及复印机的普及应用,发行数量略有下降。国外发行至15个国家和地区,并与10多个国家建立了交换关系约200份。《园
